# xarray.plot.FacetGrid.set_titles

#### FacetGrid.set_titles(template='{coord} = {value}', maxchar=30, size=None, \*\*kwargs)[[source]](https://github.com/pydata/xarray/blob/main/xarray/plot/facetgrid.py#L929-L996)

Draw titles either above each facet or on the grid margins.

* **Parameters:**
  * **template** ([`str`](https://docs.python.org/3/builtins/stdtypes.html#str), *default*: `"{coord} = {value}"`) – Template for plot titles containing {coord} and {value}
  * **maxchar** ([`int`](https://docs.python.org/3/builtins/functions.html#int), *default*: `30`) – Truncate titles at maxchar
  * **\*\*kwargs** (`keyword args`) – additional arguments to matplotlib.text
* **Returns:**
  **self** (`FacetGrid object`)
