# xarray.core.indexing.explicit_indexing_adapter

### xarray.core.indexing.explicit_indexing_adapter(key, shape, indexing_support, raw_indexing_method)[[source]](https://github.com/pydata/xarray/blob/main/xarray/core/indexing.py#L1159-L1192)

Support explicit indexing by delegating to a raw indexing method.

Outer and/or vectorized indexers are supported by indexing a second time
with a NumPy array.

* **Parameters:**
  * **key** (`ExplicitIndexer`) – Explicit indexing object.
  * **shape** (`Tuple[int`, `]`) – Shape of the indexed array.
  * **indexing_support** (`IndexingSupport enum`) – Form of indexing supported by raw_indexing_method.
  * **raw_indexing_method** ([`callable()`](https://docs.python.org/3/builtins/functions.html#callable)) – Function (like ndarray._\_getitem_\_) that when called with indexing key
    in the form of a tuple returns an indexed array.
* **Returns:**
  `Indexing result`, `in the form` of `a duck numpy-array.`
