# xarray.CFTimeIndex.unique

#### CFTimeIndex.unique(level=None)[[source]](https://github.com/pydata/xarray/blob/main/xarray/../.pixi/envs/doc/lib/python3.14/site-packages/pandas/core/indexes/base.py#L2817-L2852)

Return unique values in the index.

Unique values are returned in order of appearance, this does NOT sort.

* **Parameters:**
  **level** ([`int`](https://docs.python.org/3/builtins/functions.html#int) or [hashable](../user-guide/terminology.html.md#term-name), *optional*) – Only return values from specified level (for MultiIndex).
  If int, gets the level by integer position, else by level name.
* **Returns:**
  [`Index`](https://pandas.pydata.org/pandas-docs/stable/reference/api/pandas.Index.html#pandas.Index) – Unique values in the index.
